From the rise of mutual aid groups to renewed interest in how to create a more fair and equal society, 2020 has sparked an abundance of kindness, sharing, and community.

Free Money Day is a celebration of this spirit of generosity. On September 15th, people across the world will hand out their own money to complete strangers (virtually or in person), two coins or notes at a time, asking the recipients to pass one of these coins or notes on to someone else.

It’s a chance to raise awareness and start conversations about the benefits of economies based on sharing, as well as offer a liberating experience to inspire more critical and creative thinking about our relationships with money and how we can have new types of economic activity.
